Introduction

We have added multiple charts to give you and your coach another angle to look at your climbing. How truthfull and realistic the charts are, is highly dependent on the way you track your climbs. For example, for the Tops and Falls chart to be precise, all attempts should be logged. On the other hand, for max grade chart, only the tops matter. I wrote more about how to track climbing in a related blog post.

To make the most of the charts, it's best to filter by the specific type of climb you're interested in, as grades and styles don't always align neatly. Skills in one climbing style don't necessarily translate directly to others, and behind the scenes, different grading systems are converted into a linear scale that only holds meaning within its own context.

Overall progress

Max grade chart

This chart tracks your climbing progress over time, with each point showing the highest grade achieved per session (currently defined as a day). It appears once you have at least two sessions in the selected time range, but it's most insightful over longer periods, like 2–3 months, especially if you climb 1–2 times weekly.

Tops and falls

Tops and falls per grade chart

This bar chart shows Tops and Falls of each grade. You should see more red towards the right (more difficult routes) and green on the left. If you don't see much red, it might mean you're not pushing yourself on harder routes enough. Challenge yourself and aim for progress!

Grade Distribution

Grade Distribution chart

This chart captures the range and central tendency of grades you attempt per session (or week with longer time frames), highlighting session focus (e.g., pushing hard vs. volume on easier routes). It reveals whether you're diversifying grades or hyper-focusing on a narrow range, which can inform stamina or skill-building strategies.

Base stats

Base stats grid

Base stats has success rate next to tops and a seprate row for flashes, redpoints and repeats.
